Week 60 - Lost

"I can hear their voices. Always their voices sing to me. How can I make it stop?"

Amun watched him silently. Jeff had been like this for days, and Amun had been unable to get through to him. Not for the first time, he wondered if humans were ever able to adapt to divinity. He wasn't sure their brains were able to comprehend that, not even after apotheosis. Jeff was still a very young God and was still dealing with what that meant.

"I want to help them all, Amun. They cry to me, they want me to come back, but I can't find the strength to move."

Amun sat beside him. "Why don't you talk to Quan Yin? Sie understands your pain. I think maybe you are a God of compassion after all. Talk to Hir. Sie will help you."

Quan Yin proved to be the most difficult God to find. Jeff looked for Hir everywhere, called to Hir, and searched the mountains where Sie lived. Still, he heard the voices of his followers, calling out to him. He still wasn't used to it, and it was always louder down on Earth.

He came to rest by a small mountain stream. It took a moment before he realised there was utter silence around him. Even the stream had been silenced. It was very faint, but there was a perceptible sensation of divinity around him. No form, no sound, but sensation. Jeff began to cry. He couldn't speak.

A soft warm wind embraced him, spoke to his mind. The language wasn't his own, but he understood. A hand embraced his heart. He was told a secret.

Stripped of his physical form, he was taken somewhere else. Somewhere and everywhere. He lost himself, his form, his mind, his identity. He was no longer separate, but part of everything. The wind merged with him. He was Hir. Zie was him. They were.

He was the river as the water flowed down to the sea. Somehow, he understood. He took form as he came to an island, slipping out from the waves crashing against the shore. But his skin was not a boundary. It could not contain him, just make him visible.

He heard a song on the breeze. It spoke secrets to him and caressed him as it flowed around him. He felt like he'd grown an age. He could still hear the silent mountain. The memory of that silence was one he would never forget.

He shed his form and merged into the Cosmos. He was not I anymore, but They. Us. Everything. For the moment, it was what he needed.

[ooc: ...*throws hands up* IDEK anymore. Also, Quan Yin wanted to be genderless in this, and so Sie is.]
