[OOC] Background Info
Aug. 29th, 2010 09:45 pm I feel I should try and introduce this particular incarnation of Jeff Lynne that has been floating around in my headcanon for a few years now.
If you want a basic description, he's a magical shape-shifting time-travelling alien being type thing. I asked him if this meant he was a Time Lord. He said, sort of but not quite. And really, he's not really anything like a Gallifreyan Time Lord at all, but the description has kind of stuck, hence the journal name. :P
Most of this comes from various fics and ideas I've had over the years, though most of this solidified in an as-yet-unfinished WIP by the name of Glitter. In that particular fic, the abilities Jeff professes to have include:
- time travel and time manipulation
- space travel - in his ELO spaceship, of course. :P
- magic (...I'll spare you a detailed post about that particular magic system, but suffice it to say it's invisible and drains the energy of the practitioner based on how powerful the magic is.)
- shape-shifting (as opposed to Time Lord regeneration; apparently you can't have them both, and he picked/was given shape-shifting.)
- the ability to create universes (...Don't ask. IDEK. He threw that on me with no explanation.)
- he can walk between the Seen and Unseen worlds (the world of the living, and the world of the Dead and the Gods)
- telepathy, mind-reading, reading people's subconscious thoughts/desires/etc. He calls it 'knowing the secrets of someone's heart'.
- manipulation/healing/repair of the soul/spirit
- teleportation, through time and space, of people, objects, etc.
...As I said, not really a Gallifreyan Time Lord, but the term has stuck. XD
As to the story of how he got such powers, well, the story he's told me is that he was visited by someone called Stardust when he was 15, which awoke the magic inside him, but he didn't come into his full powers until he was 31 when Stardust came back to him again. He won't divulge what exactly that entailed.
After that, well, it's a combination of 'God Complex' crossed with 'oh god just leave me alone so I can make music'. It's possibly his desire for isolation that drives him the most. He's very reluctant to get involved with things in the way The Doctor (from Doctor Who) might. He doesn't meddle; it's not his thing. And he doesn't take companions either. It hurts too much after all these years to lose friends and lovers.
Of course, this is just all I know. There's plenty more he's keeping from me, which I may or may not discover as time goes on. I'll have to make another post if he tells me anything else of interest.
